The big soccer game in the Premier League this weekend takes place on Sunday, as Manchester United travel to London to take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. It has been a difficult couple of weeks for the Red Devils, and Michael Carrick could once again be the man in the manager’s seat for this trip unless an interim boss is appointed before the weekend.

Chelsea vs Manchester United Preview
Managerless Red Devils Hoping For Turnaround In Fortunes
There aren’t many more difficult games in the Premier League at present than a trip to take on the current league leaders. United’s form domestically has been very poor, and that ultimately led to the dismissal of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager. The Red Devils have won once in their last five league games, and have slipped down to eighth in the league standings. Depending on results this weekend, they could event drop into the bottom half of the standings. United lost for the fourth time in five games last weekend, as they were on the receiving end of a hammering from Watford.
It was one of their worst performances of the season, and ultimately was the last game in charge of Solskjaer. Michael Carrick was appointed to take charge of the upcoming games, and the midfielder got off to the best start with a massive win in the Champions League in midweek. Jadon Sancho look revitalised as he scored the second of the goals in the 2-0 win against Villarreal, after Cristiano Ronaldo had put the Red Devils ahead.
Chelsea Looking To Remain Top
Unless there is a huge turnaround in goals this weekend, Chelsea should be remaining at the top of the Premier League standings. However, the Blues will be looking to stay clear of the chasing pack, as they currently have a three point advantage over Manchester City and a four point advantage over Liverpool. Chelsea haven’t missed a step in the Premier league so far this season, as they have been beaten just once in their 12 fixtures.
That defeat came earlier in the season against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge. Since then, the Blues have won four of their last five league games, and cruised to victory last weekend against Leicester City, with Antonio Rudiger and Christian Pulisic among the scorers. Confidence was also built in the midweek win over Juventus, as Reece James scored a stunning goal in a 4-0 success against the Old Lady.
Recent Meetings
Man Utd actually have a fairly good record against Chelsea, as they are unbeaten in their last seven Premier League fixtures against the Blues. United have also kept clean sheets in their last four matches against the Blues. At Stamford Bridge, United have also had success, as they have won three of the previous four in all competitions.
Chelsea vs Manchester United Prediction
The recent form, coupled with United’s best performance in time against Villarreal in midweek, both give chances to the Red Devils this weekend. However, it’s more likely that the Blues will pick up a commanding victory as United’s defensive vulnerability is evident once again.
