Before Betting On Chelsea vs Tottenham

The pressure will be back on Tottenham in the race for a Champions League spot this season in the Premier League. Spurs come into the latest round of matches sitting fifth, and they trail Aston Villa by seven points with two matches in hand. A defeat on Thursday could almost certainly end their hunt for a top four finish in the EPL this term.

Their recent form in the competition would be a massive concern ahead of this showdown, as Spurs have now lost each of their last two. However, some confidence would have been taken from their recent 3-2 home loss against Arsenal, as they showed excellent character to threaten a comeback in the closing stages. But, the three goals that they allowed in that defeat means that they are now the 16th team to allow at least 50 goals this term.

Chelsea could only dream of challenging for a European finish this term, as they come into this round looking to consolidate their spot in the top half of the standings. The Blues have won two of their last five matches, and they have suffered just one defeat across that period.

Chelsea appeared to be heading toward a second straight loss in the league on Saturday after conceding twice in the first 45 minutes against Aston Villa. But, they showed excellent character to produce a comeback, and they were hugely unfortunate not to have claimed victory at Villa Park in the closing stages.
