College Basketball is almost back so we’ve decided to take a look at the top teams in the country and what to expect from them.
The Best Teams in College Basketball to Start Off
The best team in the country according to experts before a ball has been tipped are the Michigan St Spartans. Tom Izzo brings has veteran group led by All American Cassius Winston. The senior will be one of the leading candidates for national player of the year honors. They are the best team in the Big Ten and until someone beats them, will be the number one ranked team in the country.
They bring back high scoring guard Joshua Langford and Xavier Tillman should be rock solid down low for them once again. It’s been far too long since Tom Izzo has won a national championship. His teams dominate league play and always make it to the Final Four but that’s simply not good enough and he knows it. This could be the year he finally gets it done again.
Kansas Near the Top Despite Off Court Turmoil
Despite the situation that the Jayhawks find themselves in with the NCAA, they have a roster that will compete for a National title. After the way their season went last year, expect head coach Bill Self to approach this off season with an extra level of determination.
Their Big 12 dominance was ended last season and you can expect this crew to come back with a vengeance. Self wasted no time in making roster moves that saw Quentin Grimes leave and Silvio De Souza get cleared. Devon Dotson should be one of the players in the country at his position. Hopefully for Kansas, Udoka Azubuike can stay healthy for a full season. He is one of the most physically imposing players in college basketball.
Kentucky Always Fighting for Top Spot
In another case of the usual suspects, the Kentucky Wildcats are expected to be one of the top teams in the country as usual. Calipari’s team will look very different from last year but that’s the most obvious thing you can say about a team that he coaches. The originator of the one and done era, Calipari will have to do one of his better coaching jobs with this young group.
He really does not have many veterans returning so they will need his fierce leadership style more than ever. For his part, coach Cal has not lost any of the fire in the belly so it should be a good year for the Wildcats.
Louisville Should Be the Best Team in the ACC
They don’t get the attention of Duke or North Carolina, however Louisville should be the best team in the ACC. Jordan Nwara should be an All American candidate as a do it all players. He will have a ton of help from the likes of Dwayne Sutton, Steven Enoch and Malik Williams. The reason that they are poised to be the best team in the Atlantic Coast Conference is their combination of depth, experience and just overall talent.
