The New York Giants (2-13) host the Indianapolis Colts (7-8). Indianapolis can still make the playoffs and the scenario is not one in which a degree in calculus is necessary to grasp it. The Giants are playing for a higher draft pick. Our Colts vs Giants prediction is for the teams to score less than 40.5 points.

Head-to-head, the Colts lead with a record of 12-7.

The Colts Need to Win and Get Help

Indianapolis must win its final two games against the Giants and Jacksonville to make the playoffs as a wild card. It also needs Miami to win both its games over Cleveland and the Jets. The Broncos must lose both their games to Cincinnati and Kansas City.

It’s certainly a lot. But it’s not insane to think it could happen. On Saturday afternoon, Denver plays Cincinnati at 4:30 pm EST, so Indy will know well before Sunday’s kickoff if they’re still in contention.

Anthony Richardson is out with back and foot injuries. Veteran Joe Flacco will start.

In Indy’s 38-30 win over Tennessee, the team relied on running back Jonathan Taylor and his 218 rushing yards.

With Flacco, there will be a more pass-friendly offense. The veteran did not show much when he replaced Richardson as the starter earlier in the season.

If the Broncos win, none of this matters.

Who’s Playing QB for the Giants? It Doesn’t Matter

New York has bounced between quarterbacks Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito depending on which one is least beaten up for that day. Lock is expected to start against Indianapolis.

The Colts’ defense has been shaky all season. In Week 16, they surrendered 30 points to the offensively-challenged Titans.

Giants’ rookie standout running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. has an ankle issue but is expected to play. Rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers has a toe injury and is questionable.

Atlanta blew them out 34-7 in Week 16. They’re punting the season and going for a higher draft pick, and apparently, the current GM/coach combo of Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll will be back in 2025.

Colts vs Giants Prediction: Scoring Will Be Limited

The Colts’ strategy will change drastically if they are eliminated by Saturday night. But the Giants have had trouble scoring. That is unlikely to change. They’re going at it half-hearted.

Even if Indianapolis does not play several key performers, the Giants are not going to score much. The total points will be under 40.5.
