Colts Not a Fan of Duval County

It’s the annual trek to Duval County for the Indianapolis Colts, a trip that hasn’t been kind in recent years. All Indianapolis needed to do last year was beat the 2-14 Jaguars and they were in the playoffs but of course Jacksonville comes out with a 26-11 victory and the Colts were done for the year. Indianapolis now hasn’t won in Jacksonville since 2014 and in 2020 when the Jaguars were 1-15 their only victory came against the Colts.

Indianapolis’ horrors in Jacksonville are a major reason they are just -3 point favorites across the board in the Colts Jaguars week 2 matchup. Indianapolis would seem to have the better team talent-wise, but that was also the case last week against Houston where the Colts were actually lucky to get a 20-20 tie. The Texans were up 20-3 going into the 4th quarter of that game.

Maybe it just took new QB Matt Ryan some time to get in rhythm with the Indianapolis offense, because he did lead the team to 17 points in the 4th quarter while throwing for 352 yards. The Jaguars may have some vulnerabilities in their secondary after allowing old Indianapolis QB Carson Wentz to throw for 313 yards and 4 TDs last week.

Jags’ QB Trevor Lawrence played solid in last year’s season finale win over the Colts going 23/32 for 223 yards and 2 TDs. The second-year player was 24/42 for 275 yards last week in a 28-22 loss to the Commanders last week, a game the Jaguars led 22-14 in the 4th quarter.

Colts Jaguars Week 2 Prediction

The streak can’t last forever but how can you possibly back Indianapolis in the Colts Jaguars week 2 matchup? There’s something about the trip to Jacksonville that turns this team to wax, and the Jaguars ML would be the play one would think.
