Columbus Crew hosts Atlanta United in the first leg of their MLS round of 16 playoffs. The hosts are moderate favorites, because they really do play well at home, but on the other side, United is one of the most dangerous teams in the MLS.

Before Betting on Columbus Crew vs. Atlanta United

The Crew ended the regular campaign at home with a win over Montreal CF, whom they defeated 2-1. That was the sixth consecutive match for them without a loss, and during this span, they’ve had three ties and wins each.

It is interesting that all these events were with goals on both ends. Also, they’ve all finished with 2 or 3 goals, which is a moderate efficiency. Crew has been without a defeat at home for the past 12 games, and that’s a fantastic achievement. In the last five, we’ve seen them triumph four times, netting at least twice in each of those meetings.

As for Five Stripes, their previous eight meetings were with both teams netting. Just two ended under 2.5 scores, and overall, seven of the past 10 saw over 2.5 hits. Atlanta plays open and efficient football all the time, and we can say that the franchise from Georgia is one of the most interesting to watch.

A big problem for Gonzalo Pineda and his boys are the performances on the road because Atlanta struggles to post decent results. Only two wins in the recent 13 road trips, that’s a hard pill to swallow. The majority of these games are efficient, but that’s of no consolation for United.
