The NFL postseason is heating up! The Divisional Round is underway with a pair of Saturday games. Our Commanders vs Lions pick showcases an epic clash between two up-and-coming NFC teams.

Commanders Aim For Another Upset

Washington proved their worth against the Buccaneers in Wild Card week, earning a key upset on the road. They excelled on both sides of the ball, led by QB Jayden Daniels. In the victory, Daniels completed 24 of 35 passes for 268 yards, 2 TDs, and a 110.2 passer rating. He’ll aim to stay hot this week.

While Washington’s run defense was a big factor in their win, the pass defense was not at their best. They allowed QB Baker Mayfield to post a 146.5 passer rating. They need to improve at defending the pass to have a chance of beating the Lions.

At 13-5, Washington has already had a sensational season thanks to phenom rookie QB Jayden Daniels. They’ll face an uphill battle in Detroit against the Lions, but will have a chance to ride Daniels’ talent to victory. His dual-threat ability makes it very difficult for opposing teams to stop Washington’s offense.

Lions Hoping to Make First Super Bowl

The Lions entered the postseason as the NFC’s top team. They improved to 15-2 after their blowout win over Minnesota, earning a bye in the process. All that separates Detroit and their first Super Bowl appearance now is two home games. They’ll look to wear down Washington’s run defense this week.

Detroit has been dealing with some key injuries, most notably to their offensive line. The bye week helped them rest up, but they’ll be vulnerable to Washington’s pass rush. To make up for that, the Lions are likely to heavily feature RBs Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery in their offensive gameplan.

Head coach Dan Campbell helped to revitalize the Lions after decades of poor play. After coming a FG short of the Super Bowl last season, Detroit is primed to finally make the big game this year. They’ll be relying on system-QB Jared Goff to test his limits. Star DE Aidan Hutchinson’s status is still uncertain.

Washington Commanders vs Detroit Lions Pick

Washington was the only lower-seed to win last week, heading into a volatile road environment in Tampa Bay and exiting with a victory. They are certainly the toughest wild card team this season. That being said, there’s only so far Jayden Daniels can take them. The Lions have a more complete roster and home-field advantage. They’ll win this game and advance to the NFC Championship again.
