The NFL season is down to just four teams remaining, but that number will be reduced to just two on Sunday. The top two seeds in each conference are set to square off in two of the most highly anticipated NFL games in recent memory. Let’s take a look at each game before making a prediction of which team will reach the Super Bowl from each conference.
AFC Title Game: Kansas City Chiefs -3.0 vs. New England Patriots
The Patriots beat the Chiefs by a score of 43-40 earlier this season, but that game was at Foxboro. Kansas City will look to even the score in this game by using the advantage of playing at Arrowhead Stadium. This game will feature one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history taking on the future QB star of the NFL.
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense put up a league-high 35.3 points per game during the regular season, and they have a ton of weapons. Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce give Mahomes two of the top weapons in the league to throw the ball to, and the Chiefs looked sharp in their first postseason game. It’s still hard to take the Chiefs seriously until they start to prove that they can play some defense.
Tom Brady just continues to win playoff games and was impressive as ever in the Patriots first playoff win. New England doesn’t have the explosive weapons of the Chiefs, but they feature a balanced offensive attack. Look for the Patriots to use their run game to keep the Chiefs offense off of the field. Until Tom Brady retires, I’m always picking him and New England. Bet the Patriots +3.5 over the Kansas City Chiefs.
NFC Title Game: New Orleans Saints -3.5 vs. Los Angeles Rams
The Saints and Rams will meet for the second time this season at the Superdome. New Orleans was able to hold on for a 45-35 victory in that game, and this game should feature just as much offense. The Saints have been almost unstoppable on offense all season long, while the Rams feature a dominant rushing attack.
Todd Gurley is widely recognized as a top running back, but he now has a running mate in Los Angeles. C.J. Anderson joined the team near the end of the season, and all he has done is rack up 100-yard games. The Rams ran for over 250 yards against the Dallas Cowboys, and their running attack could be the best friend of their struggling defense. If Los Angeles is able to win the time of possession battle, they have a chance to win this game.
Drew Brees to Michael Thomas has been an unstoppable combination all season long, and those two players torched the Rams in the first meeting of the season. Brees had the best season of his career, and he has a plethora of weapons surrounding him. The Saints are also capable of stringing together a long drive, but they can score on a deep ball as well. New Orleans has a solid defense, and that will be the key to the game. I’m not betting against Drew Brees and that offense inside of the Superdome. Bet the New Orleans Saints -3.5 over the Los Angeles Rams.
