The Copa America continues in Texas on Friday, with the second of the quarterfinals set between Canada and Venezuela. Both nations enjoyed positive campaigns in the group stage, but the journey for one of the teams will come to an early end in the first knockout stage this week.
Before Betting On Venezuela vs Canada
Business always picks up at major tournaments once the knockout stages of a competition get underway. That will be no different at the Copa America this year, as there will be an interesting quarterfinal showdown between Venezuela and Canada in Texas. The South American side has already caught the imagination at the tournament this summer after cruising through the group stages after topping Group B.
Few would have predicted how easily they would have found the competition in the opening round after being drawn alongside Ecuador, Mexico, and Jamaica. However, Venezuela recorded wins in all three matches, scoring six goals in the process. They rounded off their group campaign with an excellent 3-0 success over Jamaica.
Jesse Marsch will be delighted with the impact that he has made on his Canada side after the North American nation were able to successfully book their spot in the next round of the tournament after finishing second in the Group A standings. Canada kicked off their tournament with a defeat against Argentina, but they recovered to earn a famous win over Peru in Kansas City on matchday two.
Canada showed excellent character in their final Group A match over the weekend after battling to a 0-0 draw against Chile in Florida to ensure that they finished above their South American rivals. But, an improved performance will once again be required if they are to achieve their best ever showing at the Copa America this summer.
Venezuela vs Canada Head to Head
This will only be the third international showdown between these two nations, with each of the last two both ending in draws. The latest of those came back in May 2010 when the nations played out a 1-1 tie.

This should be a very close affair between these nations, as there is little to separate the teams. However, a chance could be taken on Canada to progress, as they showed more than enough in their opening clash against Argentina to illustrate that they could be prepared for this test.
