Before Betting on Cubs vs Dodgers July 7
The Chicago Cubs just took a series from a first place team as they won two of three from the Brewers, and now they’ll try to repeat that feat in Thursday’s visit to the Los Angeles Dodgers who sit atop the NL West at 52-29. Overall Chicago seems to be turning things around a bit, as they have won four straight series also coming against the Cardinals, Reds, and Red Sox.
Make no mistake the Dodgers are playing solid baseball too, winners of 7 of their last 8 games. They most recently wrapped up a three game sweep of the Rockies led by some solid pitching that held Colorado to just 6 runs total. In Wednesday’s 2-1 win Mitch White and three relievers combined to hold the Rockies to just 1-hit.
It appears that strong pitching will continue for L.A. in the Cubs vs Dodgers July 7 matchup as possible N.L. All-Star Game starter Tony Gonsolin (10-0, 1.54 ERA) is up in the rotation. Gonsolin has been dynamic this year, not allowing more than 2 ER in any of his 15 starts.
The Cubs counter with Mark Leiter, Jr. (2-2, 4.85 ERA). He was solid in 5.1 IP of long relief on Saturday, giving up just a run and three hits against the Red Sox. This will be Leiter’s fourth start of the year to go along with 8 appearances out of the bullpen.

The Cubs are in a big letdown spot after taking two of three from the Brewers this week and having to make the trip across the country to the West Coast. Chicago’s offense is going to struggle to get anything off Gonsolin, making the Dodgers run line (-1.5) and the under looking like the most optimum ways to approach this contest.
