Before Betting on Cubs vs Dodgers July 9
The Chicago Cubs have played well in their first two games in Chavez Ravine, but have still come away with consecutive losses. The Los Angeles Dodgers were able to get a 5-3 win in the series opener and then followed that up by squeaking out a 4-3 victory on Friday in 10 innings.
Overall the Cubs are starting to find their groove, having to adjust to a lot of new faces this season. Chicago has taken series’ from Milwaukee, Boston, Cincinnati, and St. Louis in their last four but now will have to play catch up just to get a split out of the 4-game visit to L.A.
The Dodgers are on a nice little run right now too with wins in 9 of their last 10 games. They send Clayton Kershaw (5-2, 2.57) to the mound Saturday night to try and make it 10 out of 11. Kershaw threw 7.0 IP of shutout ball in his last start but still picked up a ND as the Padres tallied a 4-2 win. Kershaw has allowed an ER or less in 7 of his last 10 starts.
It’s not bad pitching to hold the Dodgers to 9 runs over 2 games, and Marcus Stroman (2-5, 5.32 ERA) will try to keep Chicago going in the right direction as Saturday’s starter. That could be a tough task though in his first start since June 3rd due to shoulder inflammation. Stroman got rocked prior to heading to the IL too, giving up 9 ER over 4.0 IP in a loss to the Cardinals.

It doesn’t look like there’s a reason to consider Chicago in the Cubs vs Dodgers July 9 matchup even as heavy underdogs on the offshore odds. More often than not Kershaw has dominated when he takes the mound this season and the L.A. offense should be able to strike early and often against Stroman making his first start in over a month.
