The inaugural UFL season is underway following the XFL-USFL merger. This Week 4 game features a clash between the D.C. Defenders (2-1) and the Birmingham Stallions (3-0). The Stallions are an 8-point favorite at home in this matchup.

Before Betting on Defenders vs Stallions

The Defenders completed a well-fought victory against the Renegades with a 49-yard game-winning field goal by Matt McCrane. It was the first road victory of the season for D.C., improving its record to 2-1 in the process. Another difficult road test is up next with this trip to face 3-0 Birmingham.

QB Jordan Ta’amu continued to struggle with his accuracy, but played an improved game nonetheless. He completed 11 of 24 passes in the win, throwing for two touchdowns and no interceptions on 188 yards through the air. Ta’amu also led the team in rushing with 53 yards, getting little support from the rest of the run game once again.

The Stallions improved to 3-0 following their triumphant win over Memphis. Birmingham now sits as the last undefeated team in the UFL, seeking to reach 4-0 at home in this game against the Defenders. They’ve overwhelmed opponents on both sides of the ball, becoming established an early favorite to win it all, especially after their 33-14 thumping of the Showboats.

Birmingham’s ability to continue blowing by the opposition will be put to the test against a capable D.C. team with a scrappy defense of their own. The stakes will be high for QB Adrian Martinez, who boasts a similar dual skill set to Ta’amu. Martinez completed 18 of 28 passes for 334 yards and two touchdowns in their Week 3 victory. He also rushed for 44 yards and a touchdown.

This is an excellent matchup between two of the top ranking teams in the UFL. The Stallions enter this game as the final undefeated team, expected to cover an 8-point spread. Being at home is a notable advantage, but the Defenders are a competitive team capable of taking this game down to the wire. Birmingham is likely to win, but covering the spread may not be quite as easy.
