For many, the battle between the Denver Nuggets and the Minnesota Timberwolves is the finals before the finals in the West. So far, these two units have shown incredible poise and form, with two superstars leading their way—Nikola Jokic and Anthony Edwards.

The Nuggets had Jamal Murray closing the series against the Lakers. He delivered two game-winning shots, showing clutch skills like just a few guys in the league, proving that he might not be at the center of attention like Jokic but that his presence on the floor is equally important. He averaged 23.6 points per game in the series vs. Lakers, with 7.2 assists.

Meanwhile, Jokic was near a triple-double, 28.2 buckets, 16.2 boards, and 9.8 dimes, with 1.2 steals. He was a monster against Anthony Davis, and all of you realize that he didn’t have some mediocre rival across the court but one of the best in the league in his position. Michael Porter Jr. dropped 22.8 points, which just a few noticed, along with 8.4 boards.

Anthony Edwards shocks the world constantly. After an impressive season, he had a blazing start to the playoffs, killing the Suns and being the top reason why the Wolves swept one of the top favorites for winning the title. His 31 points, 8 boards, and 6.3 assists per game, plus all sorts of morale-boosting plays, led the Timberwolves to the conference semis.

Five more players had double-digit scoring numbers in Minnesota, plus Naz Reid, who had 9.5 points. So it’s no wonder why Minnesota averaged 118.3 points per game against Phoenix. Now, we can say anything we want about the Suns, but the bottom line is that they are a very good team, and the Timberwolves destroyed them anyway.

The Nuggets have the home-court edge, yet during the regular part of the season, we saw both teams winning on the road in their direct matchups. So, that won’t be the reason to give Denver an advantage. What we believe would decide this clash is more star power in terms of taking over the leadership. While Minnesota has Edwards and partially KAT, the Nuggets have three such guys: Jokic, Murray, and Porter Jr.
