Before Betting on Diamondbacks vs Giants Aug 15
Madison Bumgarner wasn’t around this weekend to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the San Francisco Giants sweep of the Detroit Tigers in the 2012 World Series (where he was the winning pitcher in game 2) but he’ll be on the mound with his new team in the Diamondbacks vs Giants matchup on Monday night.
Bumgarner (6-11, 4.13 ERA) has been with the Diamondbacks for three seasons, posting above a 4.00 ERA each year after below 4.00 in each of his 11 seasons with San Francisco. The left-hander has obviously lost a bit, and he’s allowed at least 4ER in 4 of his last 5 starts. Bumgarner has a 6.94 ERA in two August starts.
San Francisco has no time to get sentimental on Monday night as they are six games back from the final spot in the wild card race. The Giants are doing their best to reach the postseason, sweeping Pittsburgh over the weekend to go 6-2 over their last 8 overall. SF is just 1-5 in their last 6 Monday games though and are 5-16 their last 21 against the NL West.
Alex Cobb (3-6, 4.15 ERA) is on the hill for the Giants on Monday night trying to lower a 4.76 ERA through two starts in August. Cobb has allowed 6ER over 12.0 IP in two starts vs. the D’Backs this season, and Arizona has actually gone 6-3 in the overall season series in 2022.

San Francisco looked good against a bad team this weekend with a sweep over the Pirates, and now they’ll try to keep that streak going against another sub .500 team in the Diamondbacks (53-61). Arizona has won 6 of their last 8 though and they’re the team with the value in the series opener.
