The San Francisco Giants (5-6) will look for another pitching gem as well as a series win over a division foe when they wrap up their first meeting with the Los Angeles Dodgers (6-6) this season. L.A. looked like they were going to continue their recent dominance over San Francisco after an easy 9-1 win on Monday, but the Giants held the Dodgers to just 3 hits in Tuesday’s 5-0 shutout win.

Before Betting on Dodgers vs Giants

The Dodgers were 15-4 against San Francisco last season, so it’s important for the Giants to get an early season series win moving forward. L.A. had scored 23 runs in their three previous games before completely disappearing on Tuesday night with their worst offensive performance of the season.

Alex Wood went 4.2 IP for the Giants on Tuesday allowing just 1 hit and his bullpen continued that success over the final few frames for a much needed win after a 1-3 start to their current home stand. Alex Cobb (0-1, 2.53 ERA) will look to build on that outing after giving up 3 total ER in his first two starts of the year against the Yankees and Royals.

The Dodgers had Dustin May on the mound Tuesday and he picked up a rare early season loss despite allowing just 2 hits and 2 ER over 5.1 IP. Clayton Kershaw (1-1, 3.85 ERA) hopes for a bit more run support from his offense when he takes the mound Wednesday, and the L.A. bats have obliged so far this season scoring 16 runs in Kershaw’s first two starts.

Dodgers vs Giants Prediction & Pick

One team has had a poor offensive showing in each of the first two games this season, a trend that could very well continue in a Kershaw vs Cobb matchup. It’s too early in the year to tell which way the side of this game wins, but at the very least it should be low scoring as the O/U would indicate.
