The Philadelphia Eagles (12-2) visit their NFC East rivals, the Washington Commanders (9-5). The Eagles are now tied with Detroit and Minnesota for the best record in the conference. Washington is closing in on a Wild Card playoff berth, but it is not assured. Our Eagles vs Commanders prediction is for the favored Eagles to cover the 3.5-point spread. The teams will score more than 45 points.
Head-to-head, Washington leads with a record of 89-86-6. The Eagles won the Week 11 meeting 26-18.

Eagles Try to Extend Winning Streak
Philadelphia overcame the usual drama and perceived dysfunction surrounding the organization in Week 15’s 27-13 win over Pittsburgh. The apparent disconnect between quarterback Jalen Hurts and wide receiver A.J. Brown turned out to be a minor blip as the receiver was targeted 11 times and caught eight balls, one for a touchdown.
While Detroit’s winning streak got most of the attention through Week 15, the Eagles stayed right on their heels until the Lions slipped up against Buffalo. Now, Philly has an opening to take the top seed in the conference, particularly with Detroit and Minnesota playing each other in the last game of the season.
Philly is generally healthy but for a few nagging injuries.
In the earlier matchup with Washington, Saquon Barkley went berserk, rushing and receiving for 198 yards. The 26-18 score was not as close as it appeared. Washington scored a late touchdown to make it respectable. Since the Commanders have been one of the NFL‘s worst teams against the run this season, expect a similar, run-oriented strategy from the Eagles.
Washington Maintains One-Game Wild Card Lead
The Commanders have righted their ship with two straight wins after a three-game losing streak put their playoff hopes in jeopardy. Still, with three games to play, they hold a slim one-game lead over the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle (one of which will win the NFC West). They are two games ahead of Atlanta, who they play next week.
In short, they are in a good position to make the playoffs, but can still miss the postseason entirely.
Philly has one of the league’s best defenses. They held Commanders’ quarterback Jayden Daniels in check for 191 yards passing. One of his favorite targets, tight end Zach Ertz, is questionable with a concussion. Austin Ekeler had a big game against Philly but is out with a concussion of his own.
Eagles vs Commanders Prediction: Philly Knows What’s at Stake
Philadelphia needs to win to ensure they keep pace in the race for the conference top seed. They will win by at least four points and the teams will go beyond 45 in total.
