City Looking To Regain EFL Cup
Manchester City have an excellent record in this competition, as they have won the last three EFL Cups. The Citizens regained the trophy last season, after beating Aston Villa in the final of the competition. City’s challenge of winning all four trophies this season has already ended after they were beaten last weekend in the FA Cup semi-final by Chelsea. Still, a treble this season would illustrate a fine season for Pep Guardiola’s side. City have seen off two of the other top six clubs in the Premier League on their way to this stage, which includes arch-rivals Manchester United. Guardiola’s side beat United at the semi-final stage at Old Trafford, with John Stones and Fernandinho scoring the goals. City warmed up for the final of this competition by beating Aston Villa in the Premier League in mid-week. This weekend’s challenge looks to be a more difficult one, as he looks to give fans a first trophy success since 2008. Spurs have a decent record against City, which includes the 2-0 success that they recorded earlier in the season. Gareth Bale looked happy to be playing soccer again against the Saints, as he scored the equaliser for Mason, before Heung Min-Son scored the winner on the 91st minute.
