The Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has agreed to a six-year extension of star back Ezekiel Elliott. As a result, Elliott will be the highest-paid NFL player with a six-year contract for the Cowboys.

Elliott Gets $90-million Contract with Dallas Cowboys

Ezekiel Elliott has signed a new contract with the Dallas Cowboys and this puts him right on time for the upcoming NFL season. Elliott is a highly-praised running back who has been courted by more than a single team for the upcoming NFL 19 season.

However, Elliott finally agreed to sign a $90-million deal, which will buy him a six-year extension into the Dallas Cowboys and also make him the most expensive player in the NFL to date. With the legal work behind their backs, the Dallas Cowboys will be facing the New York Giants on Sunday.

The terms of the deal are certainly something that Elliott needs specifically. He will be able to get $50 million right off the bat, with an average payout of $15 million per year. Winning a couple of NFL titles, Elliot initially made demands to be paid better than his $3.9 million rookie contract in 2019 and the upcoming $9.1 million one in 2020.

His bid has apparently succeeded because Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, appeared on CNBC to gleefully say that he felt $100 million lighter on that morning. Jones acknowledged the qualities of the player, saying that Elliott was the Cowboys was indeed their best player.

Jones and Elliott Butting Heads

Jones wasn’t initially pleased with Elliott’s ambition to win better buck right away. However, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys wasn’t too much of a hard-liner to oppose Zeke, as he referred to Elliott, to the point that was disruptive to the team.

What Jones wanted was for Elliott to honor the original rookie contract. Yet, this seems to have been negotiated with the help of Elliott’s manager Rocky Arceneaux in favor of the star player. As a result, the Cowboys are looking particularly strong in the upcoming season and they are fully prepared to take on the New York Giants.

The news about the deal quickly took social media by storm with Elliot posting on his social media right away to confirm..

Others began piling on and congratulating Elliott. Negotiating good pay terms for rookies in most American sports is difficult. Many players have tried, but to no avail. In the case of Elliott, talent and skill have worked in his favor.

Now, the young millionaire and NFL back needs to work his magic for the Cowboys starting as early as Sunday, September 8.
