Their dominant six tournament winning streak was ended four years ago, as the Netherlands won their home tournament in excellent fashion. However, the Germans look back to their very best this summer.
After making it through as group winners in a tricky looking group that also included Spain, the Germans easily got past Austria in the quarterfinals with a 2-0 success. They clashed with France in the semi-finals in Milton Keynes, with Alexandra Popp being the hero, as she scored twice in the 2-1 win.
