England will continue their journey at the Women’s World Cup on Monday, as they take to the field in the round of 16 against Nigeria. The Lionesses will be the clear favorites in the betting to reach the quarterfinals, but the African nation may be confident that they can upset the odds.

Before Betting On England vs Nigeria

Round of 16 action at the Women’s World Cup takes place across the coming weekend, and there are some huge match-ups to look forward to. However, one of the main contenders for success this summer aren’t in action until Monday, as England play their first knockout stage match against Nigeria. The Lionesses have been in cruise control throughout the tournament so far, as they topped Group D without breaking a sweat.

England landed back-to-back wins against Denmark and Haiti, before unleashing on China in their final Group D match. The Lionesses was excellent from start to finish in that final match, with Lauren James at the heart of everything positive from the team. The Chelsea star scored twice, while there were also first World Cup goals for Alessia Russo, Lauren Hemp, and Chloe Kelly.

Nigeria was the surprise package in Group B, as they overcame all odds to join Australia in the round of 16. However, at one point, they looked set to top the group, as a win over Ireland on matchday three would have secured their spot at the top of the standings. But, they could only play out a 0-0 draw against the Irish in their final group stage match, which meant that they needed to settle for second.

However, the African nation is more than capable of causing a shock result against England, and that was evident earlier in the tournament, as Nigeria stunned Australia to land a 3-2 win. Nigeria has only scored three goals across the group stage, but they were excellently defensively, as they conceded just two.
