There will be a repeat of the 2019 World Cup final on Saturday, as England and South Africa lock horns for a place in the 2023 final. Both nations will be dreaming of the showpiece event in Paris next weekend, but which team will fulfil that goal this weekend?

Before Betting On England vs South Africa

Thrilling action at the Rugby World Cup continues this weekend, as a rematch of the 2019 final will determine the second side that will progress to the final third year. England will be looking for revenge against the Springboks after losing the final four years ago, and there have been clear signs that Steve Borthwick’s side have been improving as the tournament has progressed.

England opened the tournament with an eye-opening win over Argentina, which was a slight shock considering the lack of optimism surrounding their chances at the tournament this year. The Red Roses continued their excellent form in the previous round, as the boot of Owen Farrell did much of the hard work as England sailed through a tricky-looking test against Fiji.

South Africa are one of three sides at this stage that have already suffered defeat at the World Cup already this year. However, the Springboks have bounced back faultlessly since being beaten by Ireland in the pool stage. South Africa produced arguably the performance of the tournament so far in the previous round, as they edged out France in a World Cup classic.

The Springboks were powerful in the attacking third in Paris last weekend, as they managed to overcome the French using their brute force alone. Eben Etzebeth was the standout star, as the Springbok powered home in the second half to score South Africa’s fourth try. Handre Pollard later added a stunning penalty to secure the win.

The fact that South Africa have already been involved in three huge tests can’t be overlooked ahead of this weekend, as that is bound to have an impact on fitness. However, we fully expect them to reach the final, but from a betting perspective, England (+14.5) looks like a solid selection.
