Four games took place in the English Premier League today, and all of them provided good football and lots of new information.
Manchester Superb Against Bournemouth
After Stanislas scored a wonderful goal, nutmegging world’s most expensive defender Harry Maguire and then sending the ball past De Gea almost form a dead angle, United’s players woke up and rolled over the Cherries. Though we need to say that the guests never wanted to back down and they attacked even in the moments when it seemed that the game was decided.
United won 5-2, with each of their goals (apart from Rashford’s penalty kick) being superb. Mason Greenwood twice, Anthony Martial, and Bruno Fernandes, all of them scored wonderful goals.
Joshua King delivered the second score for the Cherries, this one too coming from the penalty spot. Bournemouth is now second to the last with 27 points, one fewer than Watford, who sits above the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, Manchester is in excellent shape, and with 55 points, sits fifth ahead of the Wolves who lost at home to Arsenal today.
Gunners Three in a Row
Just a few believed in Arsenal’s routine win over the Wolves on the road this Saturday afternoon. The final score was 0-2 in a match which wasn’t that much appealing for the fans who watched it.
Bukayo Saka scored the first goal for Arsenal in the 43rd minute, and the second one came four minutes before the end, with Alexander Lacazette netting.
The Gunners were looking solid, following all the tactical assignments prepared, while on the other side, the hosts simply couldn’t breach the tough defensive block in front of Martinez’s goal.
Right now, the team from London is seventh with 49 points three fewer than the Wolves.
Vardy Enters the “Club 100”
One of the best English and the European strikers in the last few years, Jamie Vardy scored his 100th goal today. His Foxes defeated Crystal Palace at home with 3-0, cathing some air after a series of poor performances, which eventually endangered their UCL spot.
Leicester’s star scored twice, in the 77th and 94th minute of the contest, totaling his record to 101 hits in the top flight, becoming the first Fox to do so after 1934.
Vardy is currently the top scorer of the English Premier League for this campaign, and even though many believed that he and his team would fall and become mediocre after a few years of solid performances, both are proving all those predictions wrong.
Iheanacho delivered one more goal in today’s contest.
Leicester is third with 58 points, while Palace sits 13th with 42 points.
Chelsea’s Easy Task Against Watford
There was no drama at Stamford Bridge, where Chelsea easily beat Watford with 3-0. The Blues are now fifth with two points more than United, having excellent prospects to enter the Champions League.
Olivier Giroud scored the first goal in the match, Willian doubled from the penalty spot, and Ross Barkley put an end on the closing game of Saturday’s program.
