An exciting summer of soccer action will get underway when host nation Germany take to the field to take on Scotland on June 14. There will be plenty of attacking talent across the competition, with superstars such as Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappe, and Cristiano Ronaldo all representing their national sides. Therefore, it could rank among the highest-scoring editions of the competition.

Throughout history, there have been 829 goals scored across 337 matches at the EUROs, with the first being registered by Milan Galic at EURO 1960. Cristiano Ronaldo is the highest scorer with 14, while Germany are the best performing nation in front of goal with 78 efforts. However, France are closing in on that record after scoring on 69 occasions.

The most goals at the EUROs was recorded at the 2020 edition, with 142 efforts recorded. Meanwhile, the fewest goals saw 27 netted in the 1980 tournament. We could see the record for highest number of goals at the EUROs being exceeded once again this year.

With so much talent in the final third, a number of stars will be looking to join the elite by netting a hat-trick. Throughout EURO history, only eight players have netted trebles, with David Villa being the most recent in 2008. It is well overdue for a hat trick at the EUROs, and we could see Harry Kane adding his name to the list.
