The competitive action at the EUROs gets underway on June 14, and there will be a lot of attention on Group A, with host nation Germany looking to avoid an embarrassing exit. The hosts will be up against Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland in the opening round.

Group A at the EUROs could be one of the most difficult to predict, with much of that being down to the poor form shown by Germany over the last 18 months. The hosts come into the tournament year after losing each of their last two internationals, while they are still recovering from an unlikely exit at the group stage of the World Cup for the second edition of the tournament in 2022.
Scotland have been very much a nation on the rise in recent years, achieving qualification to the EUROs in 2020 to end a long wait for an appearance at a major tournament. However, they were poor in that campaign after failing to win a single match. But, they have kicked on once again throughout their qualification campaign over the last 12 months, scoring a memorable win over Spain at Hampden Park.
Hungary will be appearing at the EUROs for the third straight edition of the competition. They defied expectations to reach the round of 16 at EURO 2016, but they failed to win a single match on their previous appearance. But, their performances against some of the biggest nations in the Nations League over recent years could make them a dangerous proposition.
Switzerland have successfully qualified for the last two editions of the EUROs, reaching the knockout stage on both occasions. Despite winning just one match in the previous edition, they reached the last eight. Their run to that stage was highlighted by a success over the then-reigning world champions France.
