Pre-tournament favorites England will start their quest for a first major tournament since 1966 in Group C at the EUROs this summer. But, can the Three Lions safely secure their spot in the next round at EURO 2024 after being drawn alongside Slovenia, Denmark, and Serbia?
Before Betting On EURO 2024 Group C
All the eyes in Group C at EURO 2024 will be on England, as the Three Lions look to get their campaign off to a perfect start by topping this group stage campaign. There has been very little to dislike about their chances of achieving that feat over the last 18 months, as England remain on an upward trajectory under Gareth Southgate. However, it would appear that it will be win or bust for the current coach this summer with the talent that he has to call upon.
Denmark will be a very interesting rival for England, as the Danes pushed the Three Lions all the way at the semi-final stage of the previous edition of the tournament. They also come into the tournament year in consistent form after winning all but three of their internationals last year. However, they haven’t beaten a top ranked nation over that period.
But, the Danes did land victory over Serbia in qualifying round for the EUROs. Slovenia could be a direct rival once again for the second qualifying spot after winning five of their last six internationals. However, their only defeat over that period was suffered in Copenhagen against Group C rivals Denmark.
Serbia could be considered to be the dark horses in this group, as they have threatened to piece together a competitive run in a major tournament in recent history. They reached the last eight of the EUROs in 2020, and have qualified for each of the last four editions of the World Cup.
