The reigning EURO champions kick off their defense of the title in Group B on Saturday. Italy are among the unfancied nations to win the tournament this summer, and they will face a challenging opening round of matches, beginning with a showdown against Albania in Dortmund.

Before Betting On Italy vs Albania

Italy defied expectations to land success at EURO 2020, and they will once again be the outsiders to land victory in the tournament this summer. The Italian national team is one of the most successful in Europe, having won the World Cup on four occasions, and the EUROs on two occasions. However, their route to Germany has been challenging to say the least.

Italy needed to settle for second spot in their qualifying group after finishing behind England in the standings. The nation won just four of their eight matches, and were defeated on two occasions. They scored just 16 goals, which was their lowest qualifying tally since 2020. Meanwhile, they allowed more goals in the qualifying round than they had since 1984.

Albania will be the massive outsiders in the betting to progress from Group B after being drawn alongside Italy, Croatia, and Spain. However, confidence would have been gained from their qualifying campaign after topping their group for the first time ever after winning four of their eight matches. This will be their second appearance at the EUROs after making the group stage in 2016.

The national side has been in solid form already this year after winning each of their last two matches, while they have suffered just two defeats in their last eleven international matches. But, they will need to be as difficult to breakdown as they were in qualifying to stand any chance of progression this summer.
