It’s almost certain that, along with France, the Netherlands and Austria will get to the knockout phase. The only question is from which position on the Group D table? Obviously, the No. 1 spot is the most cherished one, as the team that wins it will get to play against the third-placed team from Group A, B, or C.
Right now, the Netherlands is occupying that spot, but to stay there, the Dutch would probably need a big win over Ralf Rangnick’s Austria. We say “probably” because it also depends on the outcome of the other Group D game, which we’ve analyzed in our France vs. Poland preview.
Before Betting on Netherlands vs. Austria
Both teams have been great since the start of the Euros. Despite losing 1:0 to France in the first round, the Austrians did very well in that game. Then, in the second round, they obliterated Poland 3:1 showing that they’ve got plenty of weapons in the arsenal.
The Dutch beat the Poles 2:1 in the opening round, then went on to play 0:0 with France. It was a goalless draw, but it wasn’t a snooze fest. In fact, we witnessed plenty of exciting chances on both ends, with the even scoring a goal that was ruled out after a VAR intervention.
Holland’s defense was brilliant in that game, managing to keep the French from scoring. Sure, France was without Mbappe, but Griezmann, Thuram, and Dembele are undoubtedly dangerous players.
In the third round, Ronald Koeman’s men need to focus more on the offense, rather than defense. They need to win this game if they want to end the group stage in the No. 1 spot.
Netherlands vs. Austria Offshore Odds & Pick
If you compare these two teams player-for-player, the Dutch are better. However, Austria’s power in the Euro 2024 is that these guys work fantastic as a collective. We think they’re going to give war to the Netherlands, so don’t be surprised if we see a draw.
