France and England had a lousy start to EURO 2024, but they are still the top favorites to win the title. However, certain doubts appeared among the fans, which caused the odds to move with the two rivals being even now. And for Germany to jump right behind both.

Pale England and Disorganized France

The way England played against Serbia really made us think about Gareth Southgate. It’s evident that he isn’t the right guy for the current position and that the team is suffering under his leadership. First, leaving out Jack Grealish disturbed the atmosphere. Then, experimenting against Serbia, plus his constant defensive-minded approach, led to a poor performance against one of the weaker teams in the tournament.

On the other hand, France was equally disappointing against Austria, even though they also won three points. Their attack is problematic because of all the selfishness involved, particularly Marcus Thuram’s. Inter’s striker really messed up at least three promising situations. Mbappe fractured his nose, which could impact his game a lot, while the midfield looked weak and without the needed aggression.

Looking at the current odds, France and England now have the same prospects for winning the EURO title, but one big change happened behind them.

Germany’s Big Comeback

Die Mannschaft was more a dark horse ahead of this championship and a true title contender. After seeing them collapse in the previous few years, especially lately, no one counted on the Germans even though they play at home.

England+400
Germany+450
Portugal+625
Spain+725

Yet a strong 5-1 victory over Scotland resurrected the Germans, who are now just behind France and England, improving their odds the most of all the teams in this EURO.

One English legend said a few decades ago, “Football is a simple game—22 men chase a ball for 90 minutes, and at the end, the Germans always win.”

That could be the case here.
