Portugal will be the final nation to get their EURO 2024 campaign underway when they come up against the Czech Republic in Leipzig. Roberto Martinez will be hoping that his side can get off to a perfect start to enhance their chances of winning the EUROs for a second time.

Before Betting On Portugal vs Czech Republic

Portugal are one of the biggest nations that have gone under the radar in the build up to EURO 2024, despite being the only team that ended qualification with a 100% record. Cristiano Ronaldo will once again lead his national team into the tournament, with the side looking to win the EUROs for a second time. Portugal’s only major honor was recorded back in 2016 after beating France in the final in Paris.

However, their form has stuttered slightly so far this year after losing two of their last three internationals, which includes a recent loss against Croatia. But, the Portuguese boast excellent depth in the final third of the field, with Bruno Fernandes, Rafael Leao, and Bernardo Silva likely to be among their most important players in Germany.

The Czech Republic are previous EUROs champions after winning the tournament back in 1976. As well as that, they have reached the final one a further occasion, and were semi-finalists back in 2004. Czechia defied all expectations in the previous edition of the EUROs after reaching the quarterfinal stage for the second time in three editions.

Their qualifying record was relatively impressive after winning four of their eight matches, and suffering just one defeat. Defensively they showed their quality during that opening round after allowing just six goals. But, the national team will need to be as professional as possible in this opening match against a Portuguese side with so much attacking quality.

We like the chances of Portugal to win the EUROs this summer, and we expect them to open their campaign with a very strong performance in Leipzig. We could see the Portuguese winning by at least a two-goal margin.
