The big soccer event of the summer comes in the form of the European Championships, as EURO 2024 is staged in Germany. Italy come into this year’s event as the reigning champions after beating England on penalties at Wembley three years ago. But, which teams could be among the leading contenders to reach the final this year?
Before Betting On EURO 2024 To Reach The Final
There will be a wide-open feel to the EUROs this summer, with as many as six leading nations targeting the top prize. Germany will kick off the tournament in Munich on June 14, and they have gained confidence in the outright market over recent weeks. They should have the quality to top Group A above Scotland, Hungary, and Switzerland.
Group B will be the most interesting opening stage, with Spain, Italy, and Croatia all challenging for top spot. Cases can be made for all, but we could see the 2008 champions progressing as winners, with Croatia finishing in the second spot. England are widely expected to enjoy a memorable summer, and we expect them to finish top of Group C above Denmark, Serbia, and Slovenia.
The Netherlands and France will renew their rivalry in Group D, with the nations having been pitted against one another in the qualifying round. History could repeat itself, with France preferred to finish top of the standings. Group E will be all about Belgium, as they should claim wins against Slovakia, Ukraine, and Romania to top the group.
Portugal will also be preferred to ease into the next round by topping Group F above Turkey. Germany against either Croatia or Spain will be the first big heavyweight showdown in the quarterfinals, while Portugal could lie in wait in the final four. England route to the final could feature a rematch from the 2022 World Cup against France in the semi-final stage.
