Before Betting On Eurovision Song Contest

There will be extravagant entertainment on display in Sweden in mid-May, as the 2024 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest will take place. Sweden won the right to host the event after Loreen became one of few artists to win the contest on two occasions last year. The semi-finals will be staged on May 7 and May 9, with the 26 finalists taking to the stage on May 11.

Six nations will automatically progress through to the final, with Sweden joining the traditional Big Five of the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Germany, and France. Sweden will be looking for a record-setting eighth success in the event this year, but no nation has won the contest in successive years since Ireland’s dominant sequence between 1992 and 1993.

Switzerland are expected to be among the leading contenders this year, with Nemo performing ‘The Code’. The Swiss have won the Contest on two previous occasions, but their most recent success was achieved back in 1988. But, hopes are high within the nation with the star’s single already having broken into the top 20 in Switzerland.

The Netherlands and Croatia will also have leading chances at the Contest this year. Joost Klein will represent the Dutch, while Baby Lasagna for the Croatians will likely perform well in the public vote this year. A victory for the Dutch would see them become the outright second-most successful nation in the history of Eurovision.
