The third race in a triple header of Formula 1 action will take place at Silverstone this weekend, as the British Grand Prix takes place. It promises to be another thrilling race around one of the most iconic tracks on the grid, but will Max Verstappen bounce back to winning ways and extend his championship advantage?

Before Betting On British Grand Prix

The British Grand Prix forms the 12th leg of the 2024 schedule this season, and it is the third race in as many weeks for the drivers on the grid. This race was first held back in 1950, and it is one of just two races that has been held in every Formula 1 season. Drivers will complete 52 laps at Silverstone to make up the 306.198 km race distance, with Lewis Hamilton remaining the most successful driver in the history of the race with eight victories.

Interesting battles are beginning to take shape in F1, with McLaren seemingly showing the pace to battle with Red Bull at the top of the order. However, tensions between the teams boiled over at the Austrian Grand Prix last weekend, with Verstappen and Lando Norris colliding in the closing stages when battling for the win. Replays showed that the reigning world champion turned into Norris, leading to both drivers suffering punctures and the Brit being forced to retire.

Verstappen recovered to finish fifth, but the incident handed an unlikely win to George Russell, who was able to pass both drivers before holding off Oscar Piastri and Carlos Sainz to end a barren run of form for Mercedes. But, the team still didn’t boast the pace required to compete for race wins, and the success was mostly down to being at the right place at the right time.

It was another terrible weekend for Charles Leclerc, who finished outside of the points for the second time in three races. Norris’s retirement meant that he was unable to close the gap on Verstappen at the top of the standings, with Carlos Sainz moving up to fourth after finishing third. Lewis Hamilton suffered a first lap collision with Sainz, which impacted his race pace, but he drove a solid enough race to finish fourth.

The collision between Verstappen and Norris was reminiscent of the incidents between the Dutchman and Hamilton a few years ago. Therefore, another flash point could be likely this weekend in Britain. However, we could see Norris winning his home race for the first time at Silverstone.
