The Formula 1 action rolls on later this month, as the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix is staged on Sunday, May 21. It will be a home race for Ferrari, and they will desperately be looking for improvement, as they compete for second in the Constructors’ standings with Aston Martin and Mercedes.

Before Betting On The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix

The F1 action returns to Europe for round six of the season on May 21, as the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix is staged at the Imola Circuit in Italy. The race has been a regular stop on the calendar since 2020, with Max Verstappen claiming victory last year for his second win in the race. That success means that the Red Bull driver holds the record for the most race wins at the Italian circuit.

Verstappen will once again be the leading contender for victory in the race, as he bids to extend his championship advantage. The Dutchman has already won three of the five races this season. Verstappen’s closest title challenger this term appears to be Sergio Perez, who took second at the Miami Grand Prix last time out.

Both the Red Bulls drivers are a cut above everyone else this season, as they both finished over 20 seconds ahead of Fernando Alonso in the Miami Grand Prix last weekend. Red Bull is also the only constructor to have won a race this season. Fernando Alonso claimed a fourth podium finish of the season in the United States, with George Russell finishing in fourth.

The pressure will be on Ferrari in one of their home races, as they bid to improve following a forgettable weekend in Miami. Carlos Sainz was the top finisher for the team, but he could only finish fifth, while teammate Charles Leclerc was overtaken by Lewis Hamilton in the final few laps, as the Monaco driver could only finish seventh.

It will be an exciting weekend of racing in Italy, but the previous editions of the race have highlighted that it is a track that suits Red Bull. That dominance would be a huge concern to other teams coming into the weekend, and we find it hard to bet against another Red Bull one-two, with Verstappen claiming victory.
