The Hungarian Grand Prix is the 13th race on the F1 schedule this season, with the race being staged for the 40th time in 2024. It was added to the Formula One World Championship in 1986, and it has been staged at the Hungaroring since 2003. This race covers a total distance of 306.630 km, with the field completing 70 laps.
Lewis Hamilton is the most successful driver in the history of the race, having landed eight victories during his legendary career. Meanwhile, McLaren is the leading team with eleven wins. Max Verstappen landed a second successful victory in the race in 2023.
The Hungarian Grand Prix will be staged two weeks after a thrilling edition of the British Grand Prix. Hamilton ended his long winless run at Silverstone in front of an adoring home support. Mercedes got their tactics spot on, as Hamilton was able to overtake Lando Norris when the McLaren driver pitted. However, it was very much a rare that Norris allowed to get away from him, with Verstappen eventually overtaking the Brit for second.
But, it was all about Hamilton, with the seven-time world champion showing every ounce of his experience in testing conditions at Silverstone. It was a second successive win for Mercedes following George Russell’s success in Austria, and they are now within striking distance of McLaren and Ferrari in the Constructors’ standings.
