Tampa Bay in the Runaway Win?

The offshore sportsbooks aren’t giving Atlanta (2-2) much of a chance in the Falcons Bucs week 5 matchup, making them double-digit underdogs. That seems like a lofty point spread considering Tampa Bay hasn’t looked that impressive in their 2-2 start to the 2022 campaign.

One interesting thing about TB’s 2-2 start is that they’ve lost both of their home games, 14-12 against Green Bay and 41-31 this past Sunday night vs. the Chiefs. Obviously those two offenses pack more of a punch than the Falcons on paper, but Atlanta has turned themselves into a top scoring team this season at 25.8 ppg (8th).

The Falcons have rattled off back-to-back wins, 27-23 at Seattle and 23-20 last weekend against Cleveland. A big boost in the win over Seattle was 141 rush yards from Cordarelle Patterson, but he got hurt last week against Cleveland and is on the I-R with a knee injury. TE Kyle Pitts (hamstring) is also out for Atlanta.

Tom Brady was 39/52 for 385 yards with 3 TDs in last week’s loss to the Chiefs, so rumors of his demise are greatly exaggerated. Atlanta will give up chunks of yards too, ranking 25th or worse in total yards, passing yards, and points allowed so Brady is going to put up some numbers on Sunday.

Falcons Bucs Week 5 Prediction

Tampa Bay has won four straight in the series, the last three all by at least 13 points. The Bucs just aren’t 10 points better than anybody right now and this points spread should be more in the -6.5 range. Atlanta and the points is the way to go.
