Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s future is creating many speculations at the moment. The Swedish international, and arguably one of the best strikers of all time, decided to split with LA Galaxy after two unforgettable seasons. And his next move is one of the hottest topics in the world of soccer.
Italy – the First Choice
Ibrahimovic built his name in Ajax but became a world-class striker in Italy. During his time at Juventus, Ibra started terrorizing the opponent’s defenses, but he flourished in Inter Milan, where he became one of the most dominant strikers on the planet.
According to some sources, Inter might be the No.1 favorite for bringing back the Swed. Nerazzurri needs depth up front, especially since they plan to challenge Juventus this season and attack the title. Ibrahimovic would fit in perfectly, as the guy who can replace any of his teammates without any problems. Having in mind his experience and quality, it is quite possible that in some games, his presence on the field would be more valuable than Lukaku’s or Martinez’s. Antonio Conte knows his capabilities, and he knows that in order to dethrone Juve, he needs a natural-born winner, and that is Zlatan.
The second team on the list is AC Milan. For some reason, Ibrahimovic adores the Devis, and if it weren’t for all other circumstances which are affecting his next move, he would most definitely choose the seven-time European champs. However, the current situation with Rossonerri, their meltdown in all areas, and the fact that he can’t chase any trophies there, is preventing the fantastic striker from landing at San Siro. There are just too many bad things going on with this team, and for a guy who wants to retire soon, and aims to get at least one piece of silverware before doing so, this would definitely be a bad choice.
Bologna appeared as a possible destination. The reason for that is Sinisa Mihajlovic and his current battle with leukemia. The Serbian coach and Ibrahimovic have a strong bond, which at first was a fierce rivalry on the pitch, and later grew into mutual respect. Some sources are saying that Zlatan considered moving to Bologna until the end of the season, helping this team and giving support to his great friend, while getting prepared for the next season and some bigger challenges.
England Not an Option
There were many headlines which tied the former LA Galaxy member with two English clubs. He was a part of Man United, who is currently struggling and needs a leader, making him the ideal choice for that role. But it seems that the player himself isn’t very interested in going back to the Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, some sensationalist media revealed that Liverpool has a plan to lure the Swed to Anfield Road, but Jurgen Klopp almost immediately denied that. The German manager explained that although Ibra would most definitely bring a certain quality to his side, his past and ties with United are preventing any such deal.
All in all, there are a lot of possibilities for Zlatan, but for now, no clear indications where he might end up.
