The playoff round in the Europa League takes place this week, as sides that have dropped out of the Champions League join the competition. That has created an interesting tie in the Netherlands on Thursday, as Feyenoord and AS Roma renew their rivalry.
Before Betting On Feyenoord vs Roma
Feyenoord and Roma have become very familiar with one another in recent seasons, with the teams famously playing out the first Europa Conference League final in 2022. It was the Italian side that landed success in that final, and their dominance in this fixture continued last season after progressing with a 4-2 aggregate success in the Europa League in 2022-23.
Prior to that first meeting between the sides in the Conference League final, Roma had only come up against their Dutch rivals on two previous occasions, with both coming in the 2014-15 Europa League campaign. The Italians also progressed over two legs in those fixtures after claiming a 3-2 aggregate win.
However, Roma haven’t been at the standard required on the road across the last couple of European seasons. Including their final in the Europa League last term, the Italian giants have recorded just a single victory from eight attempts away from Rome. Their only victory was picked up on matchday one in the Europa League against Sheriff this season.
Feyenoord looked on course for a place in the next round of the Champions League after a strong start, but they suffered defeats in each of their final three matches. That means that they could suffer four consecutive defeats in Europe for the first time since losing seven on the bounce between 2016 and 2017.
Feyenoord vs Roma Offshore Odds & Pick
These two sides have become very familiar with one another over the course of the last couple of seasons. Roma have a firm advantage, and we expect them to progress over two legs. However, this first meeting on Thursday could end in a draw.
