The 2024 Summer Olympics are here! After the FIBA qualifying matches concluded, the 12 teams participating were officially determined. This Group Stage game features a star-studded clash between Greece and Canada.

Before Betting on Greece vs Canada

Greece advanced to the main stage of the FIBA Olympic tournament after winning the Greece-region qualifying final against Croatia. The path there was paved by an upset in the semifinals over Luka Dončić and the Slovenian national team. Greece ranks #14 in the world rankings, but has NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo leading the way. They won’t be an easy out in any matchup and have the potential to exceed their ranking. They’ll need to do just that to make it out of the group stage and into the quarterfinals.

Canada enters this tournament ranked #7 in the world. In last summer’s FIBA World Cup, they finished in 3rd place after defeating the United States in the 3rd-place game. Canada has a roster full of young stars, headlined by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. They showed good chemistry in last summer’s tournament, and retain most of the same roster. Canada is a sleeper pick to make it the final round of this tournament, but will not have an easy path by any means. RJ Barrett’s ability to support Shai will be key for Canada’s chances.

This is a pretty evenly-matched group stage game. Both teams have top-tier NBA talent on their rosters, and are likely to make it to the next round. That being said, the loser in this game will have a considerably more difficult path, massively raising the stakes. The most crucial aspect to look for is how well Canada can match up with Antetokounmpo’s size and athleticism. This should be a high-scoring clash that comes down to the wire. A more balanced Canada roster should have the edge.
