Before Betting on Florida State LSU Week 1
The intangibles are a wash in the Florida State LSU week 1 betting contest. LSU is essentially playing a home game at Caesar’s Superdome in New Orleans, but at the same time the Seminoles have the advantage of already playing a game in 2022, a 47-7 win over Duquesne last weekend in a glorified scrimmage.
FSU ran the ball at will against Duquesne – an FCS opponent – with Treshaun Ward, Trey Benson, and Lawrence Toafili all gaining at least 100 yards and none on more than 15 carries. You have to take quality of opponent into consideration, but that’s a nice momentum builder heading into the Florida State LSU week 1 matchup.
LSU does not have the advantage of having a game under their belt, and Sunday night’s contest will be the first for Brian Kelly since leaving Notre Dame to take over the Tigers. Kelly found success in South Bend, taking ND to the CFP in 2020 and going 11-1 last season before announcing his resignation prior to the Fiesta Bowl. Kelly led Notre Dame to a top 25 scoring offense last season, and he’ll try to unlock the potential that QB Jayden Daniels showed as a freshman at Arizona State with 17 TD to 2 INT before having a couple down seasons in Tempe the last two years.
Kelly signed a 10-year, $95 million deal to come to LSU, so he wants to show he’s worth that starting with the first game of the year in primetime against Florida State.
