France will continue their hunt for a second straight success at the World Cup on Sunday, as they clash with Poland in the round of 16. Poland were fortunate to come through Group C in second place, and they will certainly need to show more in the final third if they are to progress any further in the competition.
Before Betting On France vs Poland
As the odds would suggest, it looks very challenging to take on France in this round of 16 clash, as they have looked incredibly strong at the competition already. They were able to rest the entirety of their team in their final group game, which means very little can be read into their 1-0 defeat against Tunisia.
France were excellent in their opening two fixtures in Group D, as they claimed comfortable victories against Australia and Denmark. Kylian Mbappe has already picked up from where he left off four years ago, as the PSG forward has scored three goals in two starts at the World Cup this year. Once again, the talented forward will be the main attacking outlet for the reigning world champions on Sunday.
Poland needed a massive slice of luck to reach the round of 16, as just one goal separated them and third-placed Mexico. In truth, the Poles were extremely disappointing in their final group stage game, as they were too focused on getting the point that they needed to qualify rather than chase a win that would see them top the group.
Poland eventually were beaten just 2-0 by Argentina, and they come into the round of 16 having picked up just one win from three games. However, they have an extremely poor record against France, as they have gone seven without a win, losing three times during that run.

France will be looking to avoid becoming the first reigning champions to be eliminated at the round of 16 since Italy in 1986. However, we find it extremely difficult to see past the French, as they have an excellent record against Poland, and have been far more impressive at the World Cup this year. We could also see Mbappe scoring at least once against Poland.
