In the National Basketball Association on Friday – the Houston Rockets will take on the Minnesota Timberwolves. Both teams are coming out of the Western Conference, and both in line for a postseason spot if the standings hold up. The Houston Rockets are the top team in the Western Conference with their 44-13 record on the season. The Rockets are winners of 10 straight heading into the second half of the season.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are tied for third in the Western Conference with their 36-25 record on the season. Minnesota is tied with the Spurs, but just two games ahead of the Oklahoma City Thunder. This should be a fun Western Conference game – but  the Houston Rockets are -6.5 over the Minnesota Timberwolves in a Western Conference battle on Friday.

Rockets Rolling into Second Half

The Houston Rockets are the second best scoring team in all of the NBA with more than 114 points per game. Defensively, the Rockets are allowing 105.4 points per game. The defense has been a great improvement from a season ago. Houston holds a 10 game lead on the San Antonio Spurs at the top of the Southwest Division.

The Rockets are led in scoring by James Harden with 31.3 points per game. Harden is likely the Most Valuable Player candidate out of the NBA this season. Chris Paul is helping Harden out with 19.2 points per game, and almost 9 assists per game. The Rockets are looking to win 50+ games in the regular season for the third straight season.

Minnesota Great Start to Season

The Minnesota Timberwolves have been a nice surprise this season, but their 12-18 record on the road leaves something to be desired. The Timberwolves won their final game before the All Star Break, by scoring 119 points against the Lakers. On the season, the Timberwolves are scoring 109.7 points per game. Defensively, Minnesota is allowing 106.8 points per game.

The Timberwolves have six guys scoring double digits per game with Jimmy Butler leading the way. Butler is scoring 22.4 points per game, while Karl Anthony Towns is second with just over 20 per game. The Timberwolves have already surpassed their win total from a season ago, in which they won 31 games.

Houston Tops Minnesota

The Minnesota Timberwolves are having a nice season. The Timberwolves are going to make the postseason, and have a chance to give teams fits. But, in this first game after the All Star break, the Houston Rockets are going to score points, and score them in a hurry. The Rockets are going to win this game over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
