  • He will fight Dillian Whyte for the WBC heavyweight title.
  • Fury is still undefeated, having only one draw in his career.

The clash between Fury and Joshua won’t be seen for quite a while. AJ’s losses complicated things so much, which is why the Gypsy King turned his attention to other fighters. Among them is Dillian Whyte, who claims that he has the knowledge and power to become the undisputed heavyweight champ.

Well, he will have a chance to put the money where his mouth is on April 23.

Tyson Keeping his Shape For the Big Match

This is reality. We don’t mean to disrespect Whyte, but Fury (31-0-1, 22 KOs) chose him to keep his shape and temperature for the latter challenges. He wants to become the undisputed heavyweight champ, and take all the belts, but in order to do that, he has to beat Usyk, whose plans are unknown.

While the Ukrainian and AJ negotiate about their rematch and have all sorts of tactics, the Gyspy King decided to test his form properly against Whyte. During his trilogy with Wilder, he did the same thing when he faced Tom Schwarz and Otto Wallin.ย

We don’t need to tell you too much about his tactics and weapons. His main virtues are long reach, fantastic intuition, and incredible intelligence inside the ring. On top of that, his incredible speed has been upgraded over the last few months, and we recently saw footage of him being even quicker than before. So even though he did have some fun during this pause, Fury did work hard too.

Whyte’s Unique Chance

After his loss to Povetkin, many believed that Dillian Whyte (28-2, 19 KOs) is a fluke. However, the 33-year old bounced back pretty quickly, recording a very dominant win over the Russian and completely avenging his defeat from August 2020. He was actively searching for the rival after that win, and in the end, we might say that Whyte got the wanted. If he defeats Fury, he will win the title and receive the chance to compete for all the belts.ย

He comes in this event as the WBC interim holder and had one shot at the WBO heavyweight title before, against Joshua in 2015, when he lost that bout via TKO in the seventh round. Whyte’s biggest wins in career are against Povetkin, Derek Chisora, Joseph Parker, and Robert Helenius.

Whyte is a powerful puncher who isn’t very gifted in other areas of the battle. Though his strength is abnormal, and we’ve seen that in his previous events.

Prediction

Fury’s already famous speed is at a higher level now, and that should be enough to beat the challenger. But not only that. He has a six-inch reach advantage over Whyte and expect to see a lot of jabs fired in the challenger’s direction. Also, with time going by, his punching technique has evolved, which makes him a much more complete boxer than his rival. Therefore, he should beat Whyte without any problems.

Pick: Fury wins
