- Gervonta Davis and Rolando Romero square off on Saturday night in Brooklyn.
- The two meet in the WBA lightweight title bout.
- Both guys are undefeated so far, with a vast majority of their triumphs coming via KO.
Davis and Romero are two undefeated lightweight stars who draw a lot of attention. Davis is the champion, while on the other side, the controversial Rolly is besides being a very good boxer, a scandal-maker which increases his reach in the media.
The two should have fought in the past, but Romero’s legal issues have prevented the bout from taking place earlier. A very interesting intro took place before this event, with both fighters providing trash-talk, often with physical encounters. The most recent was from Saturday’s presentation, once Davis pushed Romero off the stage.

Tank Looking to Cash In
This will be the last match for Davis under the Mayweather Promotions, with whom his contract expires soon. Now, a dominant win here would no doubt provide a nice negotiation position for Davis for the next contract, and significantly boost his account.
Regarding the record, Tank Davis has 26 wins, just two of them not via knockout. One of them was the most recent, against Isaac Cruz, against whom he triumphed via unanimous decision. Cruz was a replacement for Romero, and it appears that Davis didn’t have this guy in his plans, thus his preparations were a bit worse than usual.
Gervonta is one of the biggest stars in US boxing and one that intends to conquer the division. He is a masterclass talent, and has everything in the package, the speed, the power, the intelligence, and above all, incredible technique. Despite being called Tank, he is a pleasure to watch.
Romero’s Chance for a Breakthrough
Rolly has had 14 events so far, all wins, a dozen with a KO. He is a one-punch KO fighter who needs to be refined. An enormous raw power won’t make such a big difference in league with the big dogs, especially because Romero likes to enter a brawl in the middle of the ring, often opening his chin and head.
He is very cocky and confident and, for the moment, maybe the biggest trash talker in the division. The way he initiated all the pre-fight stuff with Gervonte explains everything. Romero’s latest fight was against Anthony Yigit on July 17, whom he KOd in the seventh round.
Though, many remember his meeting with Jackson Martinez. According to the fans and the analysts, Rolly didn’t deserve to win that event. He was outplayed by the rival who undeservedly found himself on the wrong side of the result.
Davis vs Romero Prediction
Gervonta is a much more versatile and diverse fighter, and it is no wonder why he stands as such a big favorite. In our opinion, he will knock out Romero, can’t say when, but he will catch that moment when Rolly overexposes his head and use it. We’ve seen the Tank doing that so many times up to this point.
Pick: Davis wins via KO
