Getafe plays excellent football against Barca at home, and we’ve seen them posting a 1-0 win in 2020 and after that, back-to-back goalless draws. There aren’t too many teams who can say that Barcelona didn’t score against them in three consecutive visits.
The team from Madrid didn’t have a flashy transfer window. Their goal is to stay in La Liga, and if possible, create a player who would bring them some profits upon selling. Getafe played six preseason games, winning four and posting two losses, triumphing in the last meeting, which was over Vitesse, 4-1.
Barca had only one loss in five events, 5-3 vs. Arsenal, who crushed Xavi’s defense in the second half of that meeting. But in the other three, Blaugrana had four victories over Vissel Kobe, Real Madrid, AC Milan, and most recently, Tottenham.
The defense looked more or less solid, having three clean sheets, and that part of Barca’s game will be the dominant one in the campaign to come. Xavi is perfectly satisfied with the way his team works and doesn’t want to change anything. That’s why we ruled against Neymar’s return to the team after some speculations arose about the Brazilian’s future.
