The entire world eagerly expected to see the clash between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Los Angeles Lakers. Two of the leading teams in their respective conferences and the biggest rivals for the No.1 position in the league met one another at the Fiserv Forum last night. Milwaukee would win 111-104.
Bucks’ Routine Job
Many were disappointed with the way this game developed. After a close first quarter in which hosts had a 6-point lead, 23-17, the Lakers would fell apart in the second, allowing 42 points and scoring 29. Without a doubt, it was one of the worst sequences for the purple and gold this season.
Though we can’t say that the Lakers didn’t play well, but on the other side, Milwaukee was pouring from all the positions. They had just one missed shot for two in eight attempts while making 6 of 11 three-point tries, and 10 of 12 free throws. The result at the halftime was 65-46 for the Bucks, and after that, it was all routine for the hosts.
Giannis was unstoppable last night. The reigning MVP dropped 34 points had 11 boards, and 7 assists, shooting 5 for 8 for three. The Lakers simply didn’t have any solution on how to stop him.
“You tip your hat off to him, and we move forward,” Anthony Davis said of Antetokounmpo’s performance.
The Greek Freak had a massive help in George Hill, who came off the bench and scored 21 points, hitting 7 of his 12 shots. Apart from them, Khris Middleton had 15 points, Wesley Matthews 13, and Brook Lopez 10.
Meanwhile, Davis delivered 36 points for the guests with 10 rebounds but missing all of his six three-point shots. Lebron posted his seventh triple-double of the season, with 21 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists.
Danny Green was hot from downtown, delivering seven hits in 12 attempts. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 18 points. The Lakers (24-5) are now behind the Bucks (25-4).
Westbrook’s War Against the Clippers
Russell Westbrook dropped 40 points in Rockets’ win against the LA Clippers, 122-117. The former MVP wanted to be a villain at the Staples Center, and throughout the entire game, he harassed not only the hosts’ players but the fans also. He would exchange heat with anybody; the trash talk was all over the place, and in the end, Russ got away with an absolute win.
The Clippers played very good in the first half and had a 69-54 lead at the break, but eventually, they froze in the third sequence. After scoring 41 points in the second, the Rockets limited them at 18 following the halftime, while they delivered twice as much.
The fourth period was very interesting, as Rockets threw the first punch, getting a 101-89 lead, before LAC’s rally. The hosts even had a 6-point edge, but James Harden changed that with two threes.
Harden had 28 points, while Clin Capela added 16. For the Clippers, Paul George scored 34, and Kawhi Leonard had 25. Harrell added 19.
In the other two games of the night, the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Brooklyn Nets at home with 118-105. Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz was better than the Atlanta Hawks in Georgia, 111-106.
