Event Preview

The Farmers Insurance Open is the latest offering on the PGA Tour this weekend, with the event having played an early-season role on the calendar since 1952. It has been hosted by Torrey Pines since 1968, and the course has twice hosted the prestigious U.S. Open.

Ludvig Aberg has proven to be a popular selection in the betting after enjoying a fine debut showing at the competition when ninth last year. The Swedish star has already shown some strong form at the start of the new year, finishing in a tie for fifth at The Sentry at the start of January.

However, taking recent form into account, Hideki Matsuyama will also hold excellent claims. The Japanese star has already shown excellent quality at the start of this year, with the 2021 Masters victor landing the spoils in The Sentry by a three-shot margin in January.

Will Zalatoris also holds interesting claims after finishing as a close runner-up in 2022 following a playoff against Luke List. Max Homa is a previous winner of the event, winning by two shots from Keegan Bradley in 2023.

However, of the two, the former could be the more interesting play after continuing his form with a fine tie for 12th at The American Express last weekend.

Farmers Insurance Open Pick

At the prices, it could be worth taking a player at a price. Jason Day arguably should have been closer than three shots off the lead at The American Express last weekend, but his putting was a continued issue throughout the weekend. If sorting that issue, he provides value at +2200.
