The Jazz continue to be one of the surprises of the NBA – yes, it’s early – but Utah being 5-2 after trading away Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert in the offseason is somewhat astounding. The Jazz can really prove their legitimacy if they are able to upset the 4-2 Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night.
Before Betting on Grizzlies vs Jazz
It looks like oddsmakers are finally coming around on the Jazz, who have been underdogs in five of their seven games this season – only favored in a split against the 1-6 Rockets. Utah is right around a 3 to 3.5 underdog at the offshore sportsbooks on the second leg of two meetings with Memphis after picking up a 124-123 win on Saturday as +3.5 home underdogs.
The Grizzlies continued to score on Saturday with 123 points as they lead the NBA with 120.3 ppg. That defense giving up 121.5 could be an issue though night in and night out. Five of Memphis’ six games this season have gone ‘over’ the betting total which was 225.5 on Saturday against the Jazz but has been bumped up to the 232 range for game two.
It should be noted Ja Morant missed Saturday’s contest with an illness and is questionable for the rematch on Monday. Desmond Bane and Dillon Brooks both went for 30+ in Morant’s absence but it wasn’t enough to counter the balanced Utah attack that saw four guys go for 19+ points.

Grizzlies vs Jazz Prediction & Pick
You always think that it’s hard for a team to pick up the sweep in two straight games against their opponent and usually when one contest is high scoring the other becomes a defensive struggle. That gives Memphis some value for the win, especially at Pinnacle where they are +101 to cover the -3.5 number.
You also have to wonder what more can the Grizzlies do in another possible Morant absence. Two players went for 30+ on Saturday and it still wasn’t able to beat the Jazz. In a very evenly matched contest (if Morant sits again) you take the points.
Pick: Jazz +3.5
Pick: Under 232
