The Trail Blazers have already won nearly 20% of the amount of games they did in the entirety of last year with their 5-1 start to 2022/23. Portland is well rested ahead of their meeting with the 4-3 Grizzlies, a Memphis team that is favored despite consecutive losses in Utah.

Those defeats do raise some concerns with the Grizzlies defense early on as they’ve now allowed 120+ points in five of their last six games. Portland should be able to run up and down the court against the Grizzlies on Wednesday as they are well rested following their 125-111 win over the Rockets that was all the way back on Friday. It was a nice bounce back game for the Trail Blazers following their first (and only) loss of the season last Wednesday which came 119-98 at home to the Heat.
Memphis could be down a couple starters on Wednesday with Steven Adams (jaw) and Desmond Bane (ankle) both questionable. Bane has 31+ points in three straight games so his loss would be huge, and Adams’ size would be missed against a top 10 rebounding team in Portland.
The Trail Blazers are not without their own injury concerns. Damian Lillard will miss the Memphis game with a calf injury and Gary Payton II is still not back from his offseason core muscle surgery.
