Qatar will be competing in their second edition of the tournament after receiving an invitation for the second time. However, Haiti could present a like dark horse chance of reaching the next round.

Before Betting On Haiti vs Qatar

Qatar will be looking to get back on track this year after underperforming at their home World Cup at the end of 2022. The attention has quickly turned to a successful qualification campaign for the next edition of the tournament, but they will first have their sights set on impressing at this year’s CONCACAF Gold Cup. Qatar has only participated in the event on one previous occasion, but they surpassed all expectations to finish third in the event in 2021.

They won three of their five matches in that campaign, with their only defeat coming in the semi-finals. However, results this year have been underwhelming, which could mean that a repeat showing at this year’s tournament could be a challenge to achieve.

Qatar comes into the Gold Cup having won just once in their previous five internationals, with their only win coming in their most recent international against Jamaica on June 15. Before that defeat, they had suffered back-to-back losses against Iraq and Croatia U23.

Haiti previously won the CONCACAF Gold Cup back in 1973, and they have recent success in the tournament after reaching the semi-finals in 2019. However, they will be looking to bounce back after falling at the group stage in the tournament two years ago.

But, they come into this opening match in solid form after winning each of their last two matches, and they could be a nation that surpasses expectations in 2023.

This should be an interesting clash to kick off Group B, as both nations are in the hunt for a qualification spot. However, we are keen to side with Haiti, who appear to be in the better recent form and have a fine historical record of making it out of the group stage at the Gold Cup.
