Harry Kane could have finally reached the end of his patience at Tottenham Hotspur, as it has been reported that the England captain may look to move away from the club in the summer. Kane has been the top goalscorer for Spurs in every season since he burst onto the scene, but he has been plagued with injury problems over the last two seasons.
The striker is currently on the sidelines after picking up a torn hamstring in their clash against Southampton at the beginning of January. Kane was expected to be out of action for four months, which led to worries about him missing the European Championships. However, with the summer showpiece likely to be suspended for a year due to the Coronavirus outbreak across the whole of the continent including Italy, there could be optimism among Spurs fans that their talisman may now be back fit before the end of the season for the North London club.
Kane Has Admirers At Home And Abroad
As you would expect, there are a host of clubs that are reportedly interested in the Spurs striker. Manchester United and Manchester City have both been reportedly weighing up a move. However, City’s chances of landing Kane could hinge on their chances of overturning the Champions League ban that is currently hanging over their head.
United could be his preferred option in England as he would go straight in as their number one striker. However, he could instead look abroad, with Juventus also interested in the Spurs striker. The Old Lady have been on the hunt for a new striker for the past year after failing to tie down a deal for Romelu Lukaku. The Italian giants are hopeful of bringing in a new striker, as they believe that could be a significant step in the right direction to tying Cristiano Ronaldo down to a new deal.
What Would Kane Bring To A New Club?
Kane would be a huge signing for any club in world football. His goalscoring record since the 2014-15 season just highlights that. In his first season, he scored 21 goals, before he then followed that return up by proving that he wasn’t a one-season wonder by scoring 25 goals in 28 games in the Premier League. He went on to beat those tallies in the next two seasons by scoring 29 goals and then 30 in the following season.
That tally on 30 goals in 37 Premier League games in the 2017-18 season remains his best return to date. The last two seasons he has been hampered by injuries and has only scored 17 goals in the 2018-19 season and 11 in the 2019-20 season. His reputation as one of the best number nines in world football remains intact, and that will mean that he will attract a fee in the region of £100 million if he is to leave Spurs. Only a select number of clubs on the planet will be able to afford that, but his next step will be crucial to his chances of winning trophies in the long-term.
